Lead Engineer - Shop

As a Lead Engineer of the Shop Team you will be responsible for leading the delivery of our Carry1st Shop. This role will provide you an opportunity to evolve and grow our Carry1st Shop across multiple distribution channels.

In this role, you will gain knowledge of how the gaming industry works from a monetisation perspective, and also be able to work with different gaming partners at different points of the Carry1st journey. This opportunity will also provide you the experience of joining a technical journey to scale the platform to be used by millions of African and Middle Eastern gamers.

You will...

  • Collaborate closely with senior stakeholders to understand requirements and convert these into technical requirements for the development team
  • Lead the development team in the design, implementation, testing, deployment, monitoring and maintenance phases of our engineering process
  • Write testable, scalable and efficient code as well as conducting regular code reviews
  • Promote development best practices and continue to improve these by partnering with our Senior Staff Engineers and CTO
  • Perform line management duties and grow the engineering careers of your direct reports

What makes you a great candidate?

  • You have proven success as a team lead. You can collaborate with non engineering (sometimes non English speaking) stakeholders really well and know what it takes to lead teams through software delivery
  • Strong system design skills. You are able to consistently design scalable features and document these efficiently for the team
  • Strong knowledge of Full Stack Software Development. Our stack uses next.js, Java, Spring, PostgreSQL, RabbitMQ and AWS. You know how to write scalable software and review code efficiently
  • Experience with E-commerce related frameworks and tools related to Analytics, CMS, Experimentation, Localisation.
  • Strong project management skills using Scrum. You know the purpose of each Scrum ceremony well, how to measure the effectiveness of your team and how to manage the scrum backlog effectively with your product manager
