Department: Game Design
Location: Reykjavík
CCP Games is seeking a Senior UI/UX Designer to join the EVE Frontier team on-site in our Reykjavík studio.
In this role, you will shape the player experience in a persistent, player-built universe defined by scarcity, risk, and consequence.
Frontier is a dark, hard science fiction universe forged by collapse and hostile space. Players do not arrive as heroes; they awaken in the ruins of a broken world and must rebuild it through risk, ingenuity, and conflict.
You will define how that struggle feels: how players navigate danger, understand their tools, fight, build, and reclaim space in a universe that does not bend to them.
Your Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with Game Designers, Engineers, and Artists to craft immersive features grounded in Frontier’s fiction and physical reality
- Own UI/UX design for core gameplay features, from early concepts and player flows through prototyping, in-engine implementation, live deployment, and post-release iteration
- Set a high bar for craft, taste, and experiential quality, raising the standard of UI/UX across the project
- Design flows and interactions from the player’s perspective, ensuring clarity, immersion, and alignment with Frontier’s tone and stakes
- Strengthen and refine a cohesive visual and interaction language that reinforces the tone of a dark, hostile sci-fi setting
- Ensure moment-to-moment clarity under pressure - in combat, navigation, and survival scenarios
- Balance readability and usability with atmosphere and immersion
- Professional experience working on science fiction IPs is strongly preferred
- Proven experience as a Senior UI/UX Designer in the game industry, with at least one shipped live multiplayer or online title
- A portfolio demonstrating strong interactive and visual craft within science fiction — preferably hard sci-fi
- Experience designing for complex, evolving gameplay systems in a live multiplayer or online environment
- Advanced proficiency with modern design and prototyping tools (Figma preferred)
- Excellent communicator able to clearly articulate design rationale and collaborate effectively across disciplines
- Deep, long-standing passion for science fiction — especially survival, frontier, or hard sci-fi settings
- Professional experience working on science fiction IPs is highly valued
- The challenge of working on ambitious projects with amazingly smart and creative co-workers
- A multicultural work environment that encourages growth, creativity and innovation
- Double work station setup and flexible work environment
- An active fun division that hosts regular events
- An excellent canteen that offers a weekly breakfast and lunch menu as well as drinks and snacks
- Discretionary quarterly and annual performance sharing plan
- Annual sports grant
- A mobile phone as well as a mobile usage package
- Home internet
- A conditional monthly transportation grant
- Work environment that focuses on employee well-being
- On-site doctor, free of charge as well as other on-site services at a discounted price
- Relocation Package
