Fenris Creations is looking for a talented and passionate Senior Backend Engineer to join our team in London building EVE Vanguard. We are a tight-knit team creating a new perspective into the rich universe of EVE Online using Unreal Engine 5. We want someone who enjoys working with both technical and non-technical colleagues, has a drive for excellence, and is proactive in seeking out and finding ways to support others. You’ll be joining an established team responsible for a variety of services - so the ability to learn and get up to speed quickly is key. Once live, you’ll be required to join our compensated on-call rota to support the game. Our backend is run on AWS infrastructure and built using Golang following Domain Driven Design and Event Driven Architecture principles. Direct experience with these technologies and methodologies is desirable, but a strong foundation in programming, problem solving, networking, and software design comes foremost.

Your Tasks

  • Build highly available and secure cloud infrastructure
  • Build CI/CD pipelines for code, config, and infrastructure
  • Mature our monitoring and alerting setup ready for launch Plan the implementation of milestone deliverables
  • Build game features and tools in Golang
  • Proactively support internal backend users and triage issues
  • Proactively seek out cost saving opportunities
  • Perform code reviews and maintain a high-quality codebase
  • Set team direction in areas of ownership
  • Maintain relationships with external vendors
  • Share progress updates with the studio and stake holders Stay up to date with best practices, standards, technologies

Your Profile

  • Passionate about playing and building video games!
  • Has built infrastructure within a major cloud provider (AWS preferred)
  • Has designed and coded significant backend features (Golang preferred)
  • Has built CI/CD pipelines for production systems
  • Has experience architecting distributed systems
  • Has experience supporting distributed systems in production.
  • Has experience communicating technical concepts to non-technical audiences
