We are looking for an experienced AppSec Engineer reporting to the Application Security Engineering Manager to join us in building a secure and private platform for Discord's users. What you'll do:

• Make the Secure Way the Easy Way
• Develop technical solutions to find and address security issues (including creating libraries and frameworks).
• Build tools with an emphasis on self-service, automation, and performance, to help find and fix application security flaws.
• Perform reviews ranging from architectural design to threat modeling and source code level assessments, providing recommendations to make our products more secure.
• Conduct application security assessments across all Discord services both user-facing and internal.

Specific Projects:

• Investigate vulnerabilities discovered by internal tools and external reports. Find the problems, fix the problems
• Help AppSec build new Security Controls
• Work with Product teams to secure Discord
• Pentest Discord

Who you are:

• You have 2+ years experience securing production applications.
• You have 1+ years of experience with application security tooling and processes, including code review, static code analysis, penetration testing, or risk management.
• You have a working knowledge of Application Security concepts and best practices.
• You have experience implementing and using static and dynamic security tools.
• You have can program in at least one general purpose programming language (e.g. Python, Rust, Go, and Node).

Bonus points:

• Threat Modeling
• Experience with Linux system administration (we use Ubuntu).
• Experience working with distributed systems.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $165,000 to $178,000 + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role and level. Within the range, individual pay is determined by additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
