What you'll be doing

• Partner with leads across product, design, data science, and engineering to develop our strategy for personalized recommendations powered by traditional ML.
• Collaborating with leads to define our strategy for the future of AI and how it can meaningfully improve experiences for everyone on Discord
• Drive our collaboration with Machine Learning teams to build healthy integrations across our product infrastructure and our ML platforms.
• Build new features across our iOS, Android, Web apps and the Discord backend systems after ramping up on our overall tech stack.
• Provide mentorship and guidance for other engineers by setting an example on how to write, review, and ship elegant, scalable, and high quality code.

What you should have

• 8+ years of experience working on large, cross-platform software projects. Especially features for products at scale or in real-time applications.
• Familiarity with a variety of platforms (mobile, backend, API, data pipelines, etc.)
• Strong product intuition. You partner with product leaders to ensure teams build the most compelling and impactful experiences. This could be digging into product strategy or going into the details of specific designs.
• A strong sense of shared ownership. You don’t believe that anything is someone else’s problem and are willing to explore unfamiliar parts of the tech stack to understand how it works and develop new expertise.
• Technical leadership. You hold a high technical bar for yourself and others by balancing quality with speed in a sustainable way.

• Experience working with cutting-edge AI platforms.
• Experience building ML-powered recommendations.
• Experience working on real-time data streaming services and notifications platforms.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $256,000 to $279,000 + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role and level. Within the range, individual pay is determined by additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Please note that the compensation details listed in US role postings reflect the base salary only, and do not include equity, or benefits.
