Methodical Games is a newly formed studio built around a fundamental set of ideals; a lean talented team, direct cross-discipline collaboration, quick iteration, and developer-driven processes. Our goal is to foster a haven for developers to push the bounds of their craft and collaborate directly with other creative minds. We’re seeking passionate individuals from all walks of life to join us in building something great.

We are looking for an experienced Human Resources Manager to assist and support the studio leadership and the rest of the team with human resources and administrative functions. Our ideal candidate will run the daily functions of the Human Resources (HR) department, including: hiring/interviewing staff, upholding company policies, and administering pay, benefits, and leave.

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including, but not limited to: compensation, benefits, and leave; payroll processing; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.

  • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, performance plans, and certifications.

  • Build an onboarding framework for new hires to ensure productivity and positive employee experience.

  • Supports recruitment and interview efforts of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.

  • Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.

  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.

  • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.

  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; review policies and practices to maintain compliance.

  • Manage relocation services for new hires moving to Raleigh, NC, and provide support and logistics for remote employees.

Qualifications

  • Able to work in the Methodical Games office in Raleigh, NC.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.

  • 5+ years of human resource management experience is preferred.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills and expertise in navigating ambiguous situations with high autonomy.

  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.

  • Experience with talent acquisition and compensation packages.

  • Current and in-depth knowledge of employment-related laws.

  • Experience supporting teams working remotely.

  • Proficiency across the Google and Microsoft suites.

  • Experience with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS and talent management systems.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Nice to Have

  • Game or tech industry experience.

  • Passion for playing games.

  • Ability to help out in areas outside of HR, such as office management.
