Resolution Games

Stockholm, Sweden
Posted on Jun 30, 2025

Please note that the position will remain open for applications throughout July, but we will begin reviewing candidates in mid-August 2025.

Resolution Games is a visual computing studio with a proven track record creating immersive gaming experiences for all. We believe that VR and AR aren’t just an add-on for gaming; they are the next logical steps for games.

Are you a technical artist with deep rendering knowledge who thrives on building scalable pipelines, solving performance bottlenecks, and working at the intersection of creative vision and technical execution? Do you want to help push our visual quality forward as we take on more technically demanding projects in XR, mobile and PC? We’re especially looking for someone who has a deep understanding of rendering pipelines, material systems, and GPU-level performance tuning across platforms.

About the role

As a Senior Technical Artist, you’ll support multiple game teams with a broad range of tasks related to shading, lighting, rendering, rigging, and pipeline development. This is a collaborative role where you’ll work closely with artists, VFX, and developers to ensure that visual features perform well and scale across different platforms and styles.

While VR remains a core part of our work, we’re also expanding into more PC and mobile game development. This brings both opportunities and new technical demands, where your experience with real-time rendering and optimization will be an asset in guiding us in what is possible. You’ll be involved in helping teams implement and maintain solutions that are both visually strong and technically sound.

The role sits within our Shared Resources team, which supports multiple projects at once. You’ll need to feel comfortable context-switching when needed and adapting your support depending on the project’s needs. Whether it's helping implement a custom shader, refining a lighting setup, or supporting a team with integration or performance profiling, you’ll be part of making sure our games look and run as intended.

What you'll do:

  • Design, implement, and maintain advanced shading, lighting, and rendering pipelines across PC and VR platforms for multiple projects
  • Solve performance and scalability challenges related to real-time rendering, GPU budgets, and material systems.
  • Profile and optimize visual features using Unity’s rendering and debugging tools.
Collaborating closely with VFX artists, tech artists as well as the game teams.
  • Working hands-on with asset integration, materials, shaders, and engine-specific visual features.
  • Assisting game teams during sprint cycles with solving technical art challenges.
  • Optimizing pipelines for performance and compatibility for all platforms.
  • Applying technical solutions for art teams in the context of both VR and PC development.
  • Supporting and adapting visual features depending on platform limitations and capabilities.
  • Using or experimenting with AI tools for asset generation, optimization, or other tech art use cases.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years as a Technical Artist in the games industry, with a clear specialization in real-time rendering.
  • Proven experience building and maintaining rendering pipelines in Unity (URP/HDRP or custom solutions).
  • Advanced shader development skills (HLSL, Shader Graph, or similar).
  • Strong grasp of GPU performance profiling, bottleneck detection, and frame debugging.
  • Solid scripting abilities (Python, C#, or similar).
  • In-depth understanding of PBR workflows and performance optimization.
  • Experience working within platform limitations for PC and VR/Mobile.
  • Deep technical understanding of the limitations of development pipelines within different platforms such as PC and VR/Mobile.
  • Experience mentoring and guiding other artists and developers
  • Interest in and understanding of AI tools in game development.

Nice to have:

  • Knowledge of USD (Universal Scene Description) workflows.
  • Familiarity with photogrammetry pipelines.
  • Experience with machine learning in art/graphics workflows.

Who you are

You’re confident in your technical abilities and comfortable navigating complex rendering challenges. You think clearly, communicate openly, and adapt your approach based on the project’s context, the people you’re working with, and the goals at hand.

You enjoy collaborating across disciplines and know how to support a team in practical ways, whether that means building robust tools, solving performance issues, mentoring teammates, or smoothing out production pipelines behind the scenes.

You’re steady under pressure and bring a thoughtful, curious mindset to problem-solving. You care not just about making things work but about making them better.

You’re used to working across multiple projects and shifting priorities. You stay grounded, manage your time well, and know how to contribute meaningfully even when the context changes. You take ownership of your work and genuinely want to see the whole team succeed.

This role does require professional experience, but don’t let a few missing bullet points hold you back. Studies show that women and other underrepresented groups often hesitate to apply unless they meet every requirement. If you have a strong foundation in technical art and real-time rendering, and feel excited about the opportunity, we’d love to hear from you.

We believe that VR and AR aren’t just an add-on for gaming; they are the next logical steps for games. As players and game developers alike, we’ve always dreamed of this day - the day when we can be IN the games we love. That day is finally here, and we are putting all of our energy into making the most of it for all, whether it’s creating a positive experience for someone testing out VR for the first time to delivering a rich, in-depth multiplayer game that keeps enthusiasts hungry for more.
