Vermut is a community marketplace of unique experiences for older adults. Our vision is to disrupt how people retire, fighting the misconception society has about what an older generation folks wants.
The market is huge and no-one is paying attention to create an overall solution for the pains and desires of our seniors. We are building ‘the place to be for seniors’. The company was set up at the end of 2020, and we’ve already proven market fit in Spain and we are planning to double down to Spain and Europe, scaling fast and building from the bottom-up.
Engineering Team
Engineering at Vermut is one of the core teams which is responsible for building products which help older adults connect to each other in more ways than one. Building for older users is different then building for normal users. That’s why we are looking for people with empathy to understand the challenges seniors face when using technology. We are hugely biased towards quickly building MVP solutions before implementing full blown feature. This allows us to quickly learn from user feedback.
Our primary development stack is based on React Native, PHP, Jquery sprinkled with Vue, and MYSQL. Most of us have a primary area of expertise, but we all work across the entire stack to some degree.
For infrastructure, we primarily use Digital Ocean, and leverage Forge for deployment and management.

About your new job responsibilities :
Build customer facing APIs and reusable PHP modules.
Integration of user-facing elements developed by front-end developers with server-side logic.
Integration of third party services like Messagebird, Stripe, Pusher, etc.
Optimization of the application for maximum speed and scalability.
Provide accurate estimation of tasks.
Follow the agile method of software engineering
Manage the code in repositories on Git based systems.
Manage builds and deployments.
What Makes You A Great Fit / Skills :
Minimum 3+ years of experience.
Experience with object oriented programming concepts.
Experience working with relational databases.
Working understanding of NGINX web servers.
Writing code in a collaborative team environment.
Passion for products, empathy for users, and aspiration to make a big impact.
Troubleshoot and debug issues and code bugs autonomously.
Strong Problem-solving skills.
Vivid interest in at least one area outside of coding (architecture, algorithms, optimization, automation, scalability, etc.)
Experience building applications with PHP stack would be a big plus.
Knowledge of new JS frameworks like React/VueJS is a plus.
