Software Engineer - Mobile (India, Remote)
Vermut is a community marketplace of unique experiences for older adults. Our vision is to disrupt how people retire, fighting the misconception society has about what older generation folks want.
The market is huge and no one is paying attention to creating an overall solution for the pains and desires of our seniors. We are building ‘the place to be for seniors’. The company was set up at the end of 2020, and we’ve already proven market fit in Spain and we are planning to double down to Spain and Europe, scaling fast and building from the bottom-up.
Engineering Team:
Engineering at Vermut is one of the core teams which is responsible for building products that help older adults connect with each other in more ways than one. Building for the elder generation of users is different from building for normal users. That’s why we are looking for people with empathy to understand the challenges seniors face when using technology. We are hugely biased towards quickly building MVP solutions before implementing full-blown features. This allows us to quickly learn from user feedback.
Our primary development stack is based on React Native, PHP, Jquery sprinkled with Vue and MYSQL. Most of us have a primary area of expertise, but we all work across the entire stack to some degree.
For infrastructure, we primarily use Digital Ocean, and leverage Forge for deployment and management.

About your new job responsibilities :
Build pixel-perfect, buttery smooth UIs across both iOS and Android platforms.
Leverage native APIs for deep integrations with both platforms.
Diagnose and fix bugs and performance bottlenecks for performance that feels native.
Integration of third-party services like Messagebird, Stripe, Pusher, etc.
Optimization of the application for maximum speed and scalability.
Provide accurate estimation of tasks.
Manage builds and deployments.
What Makes You A Great Fit / Skills :
Firm grasp of JavaScript including ES6+ syntax
Min. 2 years’ experience building React-Native Apps
Ability to write well-documented, clean JavaScript code
Rock-solid at working with third-party dependencies and debugging dependency conflicts
Familiarity with native build tools, like XCode, Gradle
Understanding of REST APIs, the document request model, and offline storage
Writing code in a collaborative team environment.
Passion for products, empathy for users, and aspiration to make a big impact.
Troubleshoot and debug issues and code bugs autonomously.
Strong Problem-solving skills.
Vivid interest in at least one area outside of coding (architecture, algorithms, optimization, automation, scalability, etc.)
