About the Role 💡
We are looking for an Senior Electronic Engineer to take ownership of the electronic design and integration of our upcoming hardware products.
In this role, you will be responsible for taking electronic schematics to production-ready boards, ensuring they are manufacturable, reliable, and properly integrated into the final product. You will work hands-on with physical prototypes and collaborate closely with Industrial Design, Mobile, and Product to ensure the electronics fit seamlessly into the device.
This role requires a strong electronics background, a practical mindset, and the ability to work across disciplines to turn concepts into real, buildable products. Firmware knowledge is important, but the core focus of the role is electronic design and hardware integration.
This is a senior individual contributor role with high autonomy, playing a key part in shaping Voicemod’s first generation of physical devices.
What You’ll Do 🎯
Core responsibilities
Design electronic schematics and take them through PCB implementation and prototyping.
Ensure electronic designs are manufacturable, robust, and suitable for production.
Work hands-on with physical prototypes, performing bring-up, validation, and debugging.
Collaborate closely with Industrial Design and Mechanical Design to ensure proper physical integration of electronics into the product.
Select components and define electronic solutions aligned with product requirements and constraints.
Support the transition from prototype to production, working with manufacturers and suppliers throughout the product lifecycle.
Contribute basic firmware or low-level programming tasks related to electronics bring-up and validation (not PC-level software).
Additional operational responsibilities
Debug hardware issues using laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers, and power supplies.
Produce clear and practical technical documentation for electronics and prototypes.
Regularly work on-site with the Device and Mobile teams in Barcelona (1–2 days per week), using our electronics and prototyping workspace.
Participate in iterative prototyping, testing, and validation of physical devices.
What You’ll Need ✅
Based in Barcelona or willing to relocate, with availability to work on-site 1–2 days per week for hands-on hardware development.
Solid experience (typically 4–6+ years) in electronic hardware development for physical products.
Strong ability to work with electronic schematics and take designs through PCB prototyping and validation.
Ability to read and understand electronic schematics.
Practical experience working with physical hardware, prototypes, and laboratory equipment.
Technical ownership of the electronic design and hardware integration of the product.
Understanding of basic firmware or embedded programming at electronics level (C/C++), sufficient to support hardware bring-up and validation.
Ability to collaborate effectively with mechanical and industrial designers, sharing a common technical language.
Experience working autonomously in small teams or product-focused environments.
Bonus Points 🦄
Experience working on consumer electronics, audio devices, gaming peripherals, or similar hardware products.
Previous involvement in early-stage hardware product development or first-generation devices.
Experience supporting manufacturing, supplier coordination, or production ramp-up.
Familiarity with basic embedded firmware concepts (RTOS, MCU bring-up).
Experience setting up or working in electronics labs or prototyping spaces.
Experience with at least one MCU family (STM32, NXP LPC, ESP32, Nordic, Microchip, etc.).
Experience with product certification processes (CE, FCC, or similar).
Experience with CI/CD pipelines for firmware.
Understanding of firmware security or IP protection.
Knowledge of electronic design or simulation tools (Altium, KiCad or any other).
Experience in Bluetooth audio protocols (HFP, A2DP, LE3)
