Senior Concept Artist, Characters

We're building a world-class team of game-makers: folks bursting with creativity, who balance candor with compassion, and hold themselves and their peers accountable to what's best for players.

We are looking for a Senior Character Concept Artist to join our team and help create the visual style of an all-new video game franchise. With a focus on stylized art direction, this Senior Concept Artist role will bring the game's many characters to life and help create an immersive and engaging experience for players. You will report directly into the Game Art Director.

What you'll do:

  • Collaborate with the Art Director, Character Art Director, and other members of the art team to conceptualize and develop unique character designs that align with the game's overall vision and style

  • Create character concept art, including sketches, character turnarounds, illustrations, and digital paintings, to communicate design ideas to the team

  • Work with the 3D, Narrative, and Design departments to ensure that characters represent our story and gameplay

  • Work with the animation team to ensure that character designs are functional and practical for animation

  • Participate in team critiques and offer constructive feedback to other artists on the team

  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and technologies, and incorporate new techniques and approaches into your work

You are a great fit if:

  • You have 5+ years of experience as a Concept Artist

  • A portfolio of concept art that demonstrates your creativity, artistic skills, and ability to work within a creative vision

  • Proficiency in creating stylized concept art for games with a clear art direction, and a creative flair

  • Proficiency in industry-standard 2D and 3D software such as Photoshop, ZBrush, or equivalent concept art creation software

  • You are a natural collaborator, willing to share, mentor, and partner with other teams

  • A passion for gaming and the ability to bring a unique perspective to concept art design that enhances the game experience

Please note - research shows that certain groups of candidates may not apply to jobs unless they meet every single requirement. If you see yourself at Believer but don't check every requirement, we would still love to be in touch with you for current and future opportunities.

What we offer:

Annual salary range: $135,000-$185,000 USD
